Although I’m not sure of the exact date of this video, judging by the clothing, Max’s age, Jo Jones’ age (he died in 1985), and the video quality it looks to be late early 80’s-ish.

In the first video from around 3:00 to about 3:30, how does he do that thing where he moves his left hand up and down like that? I’ve seen Buddy Rich and other people do that before but I’ve never known how to do it.
