Teddy Campbell at Memphis Drum Shop

Check it out! Teddy Campbell, house drummer for American Idol, is giving a clinic at the Memphis Drum Shop this fall. Come on down Monday, November 3rd at 6pm to check this guy out. Tickets are $15.

We saw him at PASIC in Austin in 2006 and can personally attest that he is a treat in clinic. Phenomenal player. Phenomenal groove. Just awesome.

PAS Announces PASIC 2008 Highlights

The Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) will take place in Austin, Texas from November 5 – 8, 2008. For the second time in the event’s history, Austin will play host to more than 7,000 drummers and percussionists from around the world at the Austin Convention Center and Hilton Hotel.

PASIC is the world’s largest and most prestigious drum and percussion gathering that features more than 130 events on 13 stages with the leading artists from around the world in the percussion community. Session topics span a variety of areas including drumset, symphonic, marching, recreational, world and keyboard percussion.

“The Percussive Arts Society and the City of Austin are very excited that we are bringing our 33rd annual convention back to the Austin Convention Center,”states PASIC Director Jeff Hartsough. “If PASIC 2006 is any indicator for what to expect this year, we have the potential to set an all new record for both attendance and exhibitors; add in the incredible line up of artists and PASIC 2008 is no doubt going to be the largest and best convention ever!” Read more

PAS to Induct Roy Burns and Dame Evelyn Glennie to Hall of Fame at PASIC 2008

The Percussive Arts Society has announced the names of those selected to be inducted into the PAS Hall of Fame, the society’s highest honor given to individuals whose careers have had a significant impact on percussion performance, education and research. Drummer, educator, clinician and manufacturer Roy Burns and famed solo percussionist, Dame Evelyn Glennie, will be honored this November at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in Austin, Texas.

Drummer Live Lineup Begins to Shape Up

Drummer Live, Europe’s premier percussion festival (think PASIC Europe), has announced their initial line up for 2008. Confirmed so far are Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN, FOREIGNER, UFO), Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), Ray Luzier (KORN, ARMY OF ANYONE, DAVID LEE ROTH), Roy Mayorga (STONE SOUR, SOULFLY) and Pete Ray Biggin (MARK RONSON).
